Relief are being provided by the international community – agencies from the United States and other governments – providing critical supplies such as water, food and medicines to help the millions of people affected by this devastation that looked like a war zone. Everyone is desperately needing life’s basic necessities! Suffering is massive everywhere although rays of hope came to pregnant women delivering babies including a 21-year old in Tacloban.
According to another report, a tropical depression east of Southern Mindanao has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility and was named Zoraida. While the winds are around 30 mph, this new storm could bring substantial rainfall to the region later this week.
The 3000 Club had sent in two containers (45,600 lbs.) of medical and disaster relief supplies which arrived in Cebu and Manila in October and which are now being used to provide relief to the past typhoon victims including the earthquake victims in Bohol and now to the victims of Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda.
The office in Phoenix has been sending jumbo boxes of powdered soups, soya milk, dehydrated produce and macaroni for both Cebu and in Manila. Individuals and various non-profit associations such as the Philippine Nurses Association of Arizona, Philippine American Chamber of Commerce and the Boholanos Association have sponsored sending out these badly needed items.
We are desperately needing relief items such as non perishable goods (canned goods, soups, biscuits, nutrition bars), soaps, wash cloths, toothpaste and toothbrushes, blankets, flashlights, clothes, first aid supplies, pots and pans, slippers and shoes and financial assistance.
In addition to the above, The 3000 Club with one of its signature projects – Market On the Move (MOM) will mobilize its multiple redistribution sites both in Metro Phoenix and Metro Tucson where all these sites will receive donation of monetary and relief items. Donation receipt, when requested, will be provided at each of the site. A complete list of our locations and schedule is available here.
